| Born and raised in the former German Democtratic
Republic Nina Hagen was lucky enough to have a famous mother
and an infamous stepfather, whose political views thwarted
her plans of attending acting school.
Still, Nina Hagen managed to become a cult figure and a successful
rock star.
In the 1970s her whole family gave in to political pressure
and moved to Western Germany. There, Nina Hagen became an
immensely popular punk rock legend and even gained
international reputation.
Increasingly, Nina Hagen became known for shocking public
appearances and shrill outfits rather than musical
achievements. She has recorded an immense amount of singles,
many of them collaborations. Her biggest hit is "Du hast
den Farbfilm vergessen".
Today, Nina Hagen is an acclaimed actress, singer and synchronizer
of cartoons. Among other achievements she was Sally's voice
in the German syncronisation of Tim Burton's "A Nightmare
Before Christmas".
Her daughter Cosima Hagen, too, has grown up to become an
actress.
